Catherine Velasquez grew up in Louisiana exploring and interpreting the world barefoot and with a pencil in hand. Her love of drawing evolved into her pursuing a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Ceramics at Louisiana State University. Her passion for the outdoors brought her to Colorado and then to Utah, where she has lived for the last three years. 

These days you’ll find Cat soaking up sunshine as often as possible and translating that light into her paintings and ceramic work. She believes art is an essential and inevitable part of life both as a joy giver and sustainer. For Cat, the relationship between exploring and creating is used as a means of processing and appreciating the surrounding environment. She is always looking for those connections that encourage creativity, viewing playfulness as necessary, and art as the by-product that allows her to breathe lightly.
